LifeMed Alaska is the state’s premier provider of Ground and Air Medical transportation. Our Ground division has developed strong partnerships with Anchorage and Mat-Su Valley EMS services. With a crew of over 40 full-time and intermittent EMTs and Paramedics, we provide ALS and BLS transports for the community, in addition to partnering with LifeMed Alaska Flight crews for the ground leg of air medical transports.
We are seeking a Ground Operations Manager who will oversee our Ground division operations, which primarily include non-emergent patient transports in Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley, and continue to develop relationships between the company and the communities we serve.

The Manager of Ground Operations position at LifeMed Alaska is a leadership role that requires excellent communication and organizational skills. Primary responsibilities include leadership and supervision of Clinical Ground staff, partnership with Logistics and Fleet & Facilities management related to equipment and supplies required for Ground operations, coordination with Flight Operations related to patient care and education of Clinical staff, representation of LifeMed Alaska Ground Operations at internal and external meetings and events, and coordination with Billing to meet department and company objectives.Primary areas of responsibility include: supervision of Clinical Ground staff; partnering with Flight Operations, Logistics, Fleet & Facilities, and other Administrative contacts to establish and meet company and division objectives; and seeking out new and value-added ways to support the communities where LifeMed Alaska does business.
A day in the life…
LifeMed Alaska is a 24-hour, 365-day a year operation. This position is a part of the Administration team and typically works a Monday through Friday schedule, though the nature of the business will require the attention of the Manager of Ground Operations outside of regular work hours from time to time. A typical day might start with participating in the shift change meeting in the morning, then moving on to working with the Directors of Flight Operations to meet the needs of a complex transport involving Ground and Flight, followed by a meeting with leadership from multiple EMS agencies in the region. Interviewing potential new hires or discussing the career aspirations of a recent new addition to the team is often on the agenda, and the Manager of Ground Operations has the opportunity to work with both Clinical and Administration staff to enhance the services we provide by proactively identifying potential challenges and solutions.
Associate’s Degree in a related field, such as Paramedical Technology, Emergency Services, etc. Combination of education and experience will be evaluated for relevance.
Demonstrated success in line management/supervision with specific responsibilities for people, resources and public relations.
Current or previous State of Alaska EMT or MICP licensure desired.
Must have effective verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical problem solving abilities, and public speaking experience, to include presentations to groups. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, policy and procedure manuals, legal documents, technical procedures, and government regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and apply them to the situation. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
