The RN Flight nurse renders highly skilled and professional emergency care during to patients while in flight. This person will be caring for patients from neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and the geriatric age groups. The nurse will must have knowledge and skills to care for the physical and developmental needs of these populations. Clinical expertise enable the flight Registered Nurse to administer skills, critical decision making and safe practice at all times. Must be able to function independent of medical control on scene or when communication is difficult.
Associate Degree in Nursing- Required
New hire RNs and those hired on or after 7/1/2016
Must enroll in a BSN program within one year of hire and complete within 5 years of hire.
Existing Staff RNs
RNs hired before 7/1/2016, are not mandated to have a BSN, but is highly encouraged to consider our current tuition reimbursement programs.
Current RN License within the State of Arizona- Required
BLS (American Heart Assoc.), ACLS AND PALS- Required
NRP- Required within 6 months
Advanced education in area of expertise with one (1) of the following certifications: RNC, CEN, CFRN, CCRN- Required within (1) year of hire
Transport Professional Advanced Trauma (TPATC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) course- Required within one (1) year of hire
STABLE course- Required within one (1) year of hire
Practitioners or Clinicians must be state or national organization certified- Required
Current Driver’s license in the state in which they reside with no moving violations within prior 36 months
Required Three (3) years of critical care experience- Required (A combination of Emergency, ICU or High Risk Labor and Delivery) Previous experience in more than one specialty area- Preferred
